The Turner House Announces Call-Out for Local Artists

The Turner House gallery’s annual Open Exhibition call out has been announced.

Artists of all ages and abilities can submit their creations to be exhibited in the gallery from the 4th August to the 11th of September. The exhibition is free to enter, and Locals are invited to submit up to two artworks of an medium and size.

The gallery team said:

“After our first Open Exhibition last year we are so excited to see more of what Penarth has to offer. The exhibition is at the core of what we do here and is a great opportunity for artists of all ages and abilities.”

To submit your artwork, you must live or work in Penarth and the surrounding areas. This includes The Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff. Applications can be submitted via the online form and the deadline to apply is Friday the 8th of July at mid-day.

All submissions are subject to a review process by a panel of representatives from Penarth Town Council and Amgueddfa Cymru. The exhibition is gratefully supported by the Vale of Glamorgan’s Strong Communities Grant Fund.

The reopening of The Turner House took place on May 20th 2021 and has since had exhibitions of work from a range of contemporary and modern artists including: Quentin Blake, Henri Matisse and Eduardo Paolozzi.

The gallery is operated by Penarth Town Council in partnership with National Museum Wales. The team are currently preparing for the next exhibition: Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings which opens on the 23rd June.
