Penarth Summer Festival unveils line-up

Penarth’s Summer Festival returns on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July!

Based on Penarth’s famous seaside Esplanade, Saturday features the thrills of the Downhill Derby soapbox race, with plenty of entertainment, street-food, games and live music before Saturday’s events are brought to a close with fireworks from the pier.

Sunday is Penarth’s traditional carnival day, with a host of free activities to engage all the family, in front of a water ski championship offshore.

Last year’s event attracted 20,000 over two days and this year in promised to be better than ever.

From July 4th to July 14th, the popular Open Air Art Exhibition returns to The Cliff Walk. It’s a chance for visitors to view and perhaps purchase unique individual pieces of art. Artists will be present from 12 noon to 19.00 every day, weather permitting.

In line with the town’s plastic free status, the Festival will be plastic free!

As per recent Festivals and Picnic Penarths, traders will be using vegware containers and non-plastic cutlery. However, this year, drinking containers will be fully biodegradable and no plastic water bottles will be sold.

Instead, festival-goers are encouraged to use their own cups and bottles, with free drinking water provided from refillable stations.

Penarth’s events continue to evolve, and this is another way we can all contribute to keeping Penarth a great place to live and visit.

More information in the run up to the event can be found on social media and www.penarthtowncouncil.gov.uk
