Summer Festival is back for 2022
Penarth’s popular Summer Festival and Downhill Derby is set to return this year on Saturday the 16th of July.
The event, hosted along the famous seaside esplanade, will feature live music, refreshments, and the thrills of the Downhill Derby. Organised by Penarth Town Council, the Summer Festival is taking place between 12pm and 8pm and is free to attend.
The Summer Festival has been a feature in Penarth since 1960s and has taken various forms over the years. With the addition of the Downhill Derby to proceedings in 2010, the Festival has been the highlight of the summer for many residents and visitors.

Penarth Town Mayor, Cllr Laura Rochefort said:
“We are so excited to have the Summer Festival and Downhill Derby back for 2022. It really is part of this town’s identity, and we are proud to be organising it. After the last two years it feels great to be able to relax and celebrate our wonderful community.”
The activity along the seafront kicks off the night before with a special gig by jazz singer Barb Jungr at the Penarth Pier Pavilion.
