Start Your Own Christmas Eve Traditions

Christmas Eve has to be one of my favourite festive days (excluding the big day itself). After weeks of running around preparing, and the stress that comes along with it, it’s the night where everything comes together and I can finally sit down and breathe.

Tonight is a night that will be full of magic for many, and what better way to spend it than with the ones you love most- playing Christmas games, watching festive movies and giving back.

One thing that makes many people’s Christmas Eve so magical is their Christmas traditions. If you want to introduce a new family tradition, or start one altogether, here at View Publishing we’ve created a list of festive traditions that you can start with your family this year.

1: Everyone enjoys a night of Christmas games, so why not start a tradition of family game night on Christmas Eve?

2: Host an Ugly Christmas Jumper Competition! Can you be crowned the winner of the ugliest Christmas jumper?

3: There are plenty of people who struggle at Christmas, so why not start a family tradition of donating a package to someone who needs it every Christmas Eve?

4: Christmas Cards are a great way to wish someone a Merry Christmas, but what’s even more thoughtful is when they’re homemade! Get the whole family involved and show the ones you love that you’re thinking about them this Christmas.

5: This one is more for the children, but adults can certainly have fun with it too! Make it a tradition to write a final letter to Santa on Christmas Eve, wishing him a safe travel and thanking him for putting you on the ‘nice list’. You can keep your children’s letters safe each year, so when they’re older they can look back on the Christmas magic!

6: Christmas Day is a day where most indulge on more food than usual, so make sure to take it easy on Christmas Eve. Set up a little tea party with picky-bits, the children will love the mini party and there’s no stress on the adults part to cook!

7: Snuggle up in matching Christmas pyjamas. You’ll find plenty of sets at your local high street, and they make for a great photo opportunity too!
