Review: Cosmeston at Christmas

Pippa-Marie SheppardChristmas, Reviews

This December, Cosmeston Lakes Country Park will come to life each evening as the Cosmeston Medieval Village and surroundings are transformed into a Christmas Spectacle. Siôn Corn (a.k.a Father Christmas), Siân Corn (Mrs Claus) and their busy little elves will be making their last visit to Penarth ahead of Christmas Eve to check the naughty and nice lists before the big day.

The elves will be busy making their final pre-flight checks, filing the incoming mail requests and they will assist you through an illuminated trail of the traditional buildings and fields around the village.

You will experience this family-favourite park, after-dark and as never seen before. With magical special effects, seasonal scenic and musical installations and experiences, there is something for the whole family to enjoy at this special time of year.

Our Review:

We were lucky enough to be invited down to Cosmeston to experience their magical Christmas event on Saturday 11th December. When we arrived, we were greeted instantly by Santa’s Elves who directed us on where to go. Keeping in character for the entirety, the elves were extremely helpful whilst keeping the children completely enticed.

As we made our way through the now Christmas-themed village, we stumbled across plenty of scenes that captivated the imagination of my four-year-old son, Logan. He loved helping the elves find their lost reindeer, making a Christmas wish into the welsh-cake mix and of course, meeting Santa.

Although there were some queues, the elves came along and spent majority of their time keeping the waiting children thoroughly entertained; playing eye spy, telling jokes and guess the Christmas song (something us parents were very grateful for).

Overall, the entire experience was captivating from the onset, for both adults and children. Although we were lucky enough to have good weather, I know that even if it rained you’d still be able to enjoy yourself. I loved that the event tailored for not just children, but parents as well, ensuring that everyone was kept in the festive spirit. Most importantly, I felt safe as it was an outdoor event that was perfect for the current climate. There was plenty of hand sanitiser available, and social distancing was in place where necessary. I would very much recommend this to anyone who loves Christmas, as even I came out feeling even more festive than I did when I arrived.
