Penarth businesswoman, Julie Plumb, was named the runner up of the Woman in STEM award at this year’s Women’s Business Conference & Awards held in Cheltenham.

Women’s Business Club last week saw the annual Women’s Business Conference & Awards take place at the historic Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham. These awards are the leading national awards honouring businesswomen in their business achievements or career progression.

Women’s Business Club founder and CEO, Angela De Souza said: “We were so proud to present Julie Plumb with this award. The award ceremony has really highlighted some of business best entrepreneurs, and I’m honoured to have been part of such a rewarding day of networking, learning and development. It’s always so uplifting seeing women reward for a job well done.”

Julie said, “I am so thrilled to have been given this award. I have been a woman in STEM for over 30 years and I am honoured to be recognised for it.”

Julie built one of the first 23,500 websites in the world, and to put in context there are now almost 2 billion. She has trail-blazed the way for other women in what has long been a male dominated profession. Julie has held many senior roles in financial services, manufacturing, hospitality and hight education. She now runs her own digital agency, Plumb Digital, in Penarth.

About Julie Plumb

Julie Plumb has worked in the IT industry for over 35 years. She started as a Data Control Clerk in a large manufacturing company because she liked the idea of working with computers because she was a science fiction fan. She went on to build one of the first 23,500 websites in the world and to put that context there are now almost 2 billion worldwide. She has held senior positions in financial services, manufacturing, hospitality and higher education. Julie has an MSc in Networked Information Engineering and is based in Penarth and runs a digital agency, Plumb Digital.

Plumb Digital is a local community that works with clients across Europe. They work with both small businesses and larger corporate. They are a full service digital agency and specialise in Facebook Ads, social media and websites. They can provide training, coaching and full management of your digital business.
