A Penarth-based business has been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2021 Wales Start-Up Awards after only 4 months of trading.

Shroot have been selected in the ‘Rising Star’ category, focusing on businesses that demonstrate innovation and future potential.

Carolyn Davies said: “ We’ve had great feedback so far about our launch product- Greens & Greetings. We’ve exceeded our sales targets and are already being stocked in eight stores across the UK.”

“Greens & Greetings are unique and innovative- there’s nothing else quite like them on the UK market. Microgreens are growing in popularity as more people become aware of their health benefits.”

The awards, which are exclusive to Welsh businesses that have launched within the last three years, have had a record breaking 750 entries this year, with Shroot being one of 90 finalists to have been selected across 27 categories.

Carolyn added: “It means a lot to know that someone else sees the potential in our business and not just someone else, but the people judging this.”

“It’s great to have the recognition and acknowledgement that we’re onto something good.”

“During lockdown, there were a lot of new businesses set up and the rising star category had a lot of new applicants so it’s great to be shortlisted.”

The awards are expected to be held on the 9th September at the Depot in Cardiff.
