Independent Bookshop Week: Saturday 19th June- Saturday 26th June

Griffin Books are welcoming the community of Penarth to join them next week as Independent Bookshop Week begins.
Part of the Books Are My Bag campaign, Independent Bookshop Week is a celebration for independent bookshops across the UK and Ireland.
Beginning on Saturday 19th June, Griffin Books, which is situated on Windsor Road in Penarth, will hold several online events and activities.
Elin, from Griffin Books, said: “Independent Bookshop Week is 19 – 26 June, and is a week run by The Bookseller & Books Are My Bag to celebrate all things Independent Bookshop! Shops around the country will be holding online & in-store events and activities, and it’s generally just a really great week for the Indie Bookshop Community.”
“Independent Bookshop Week is one of our favourite weeks of the year, and one that’s incredibly important to the Independent Bookshop Community. It celebrates the important role that indies play within their local community/area, and we love that message at Griffin Books.”
“One of our favourite parts of the job is being able to bring exciting event opportunities and fantastic authors to Penarth, and IBW is an entire week of that! The last year has been hard on bookshops throughout the country, and we’re really glad to be able to celebrate us and our fellow indies for a full week in June.”
Events throughout the week will take place as follows;
Saturday 19th June – Children’s story-time with Peter Bently and Claire Powell
Monday 21st June – Book chat with Mel of Griffin Books
Tuesday 22nd June – Radical Acts of Love with Oncology Nurse and Counsellor Janie Brown
