What will Wales look like in the future? That is the question that Amgueddfa Cymru Producers and artist Henry Alles have set out to discover in this new multi-disciplinary exhibition. To explore the future, they have first looked to the past and delved into the national collections of Wales.

The Future Has a Past reminds us that the future is not untainted. It does not lie outside our reach, nor outside our responsibility. ‘How did we get here, and how do we move forward?’ are questions this exhibition asks us to reflect on.

Showcasing 59 iconic objects from the national collection including a protest banner from Greenham Common, Dr William Price’s iconic fox fur hat, a giant piece of coal, and even a lion’s pelt, The Future has a Past asks us to consider our past as a means of discovering our futures.

Youth led projects across the museum are transforming the way young people work with national museums across Wales.

Amgueddfa Cymru’s ambition is to achieve greater social justice in Wales, though public participation in the work of the museum.  We are actively changing the way young people interact and perceive museums and giving young people a voice in various aspects of the museum’s work.
