Speakeasy Club presents… No Limits Series with Nick Butter

Speakeasy Club is delighted to partner with Welsh Athletics, RunWales & the Old Penarthians Rugby Club to welcome the only person to run a marathon in every country in the world, Nick Butter, to the Clubhouse on Wednesday 22nd June 2022.

Speakeasy Club presents… No Limits series with Nick Butter.

Broken bones, muggings at gunpoint, being locked up, attached, bitten by dogs, shot at, tears, fears, failures and suffering…the endless tales of perseverance and resilience led Nick to accomplish a dream. The first man to run a marathon in every country in the world.

On November 10th 2019, Nick took the titles as the first and only person to run a full marathon distance in every country in the world, and did so in just 23 months. He and his bag travelled alone for 674 days, running 2 or 3 marathons in 2 or 3 countries, every week, for 96 weeks. This huge world record came after over 45,000 miles of running in previous expeditions, years of training, and with plenty of set backs.

Nick will talk us through his incredible adventures and highlight the important work he did to protect the globe along the way.

As part of your ticket price, you will have the opportunity to join a run with Nick himself on the evening of the 22nd. It will be a 5km run around Cosmeston Lakes, led by qualified Welsh Athletics run leaders. The run is NOT compulsory by any means, but it’s a unique opportunity to join Nick doing something we all enjoy so much.

We will also be raising money for charity on the night Nick founded a world leading charity, The 196 Foundation, based around a ‘democratic donorship’ system of small donations of just £1.29 per month, from many people, with the donors choosing which cause to support each year.
