Of Mice and Men is a novella and stage play written by John Steinbeck. It tells the story of George Milton and LennieSmall, two displaced migrant rant workers, who move from place to place in California in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in the United States

Steinbeck based the story on his own experiences working alongside migrant farm workers as a teenager in the 1910s (before the arrival of the Okies that he would describe in The Grapes of Wrath).

Theatre Adhoc Education’s performance of this seminal work is designed around the requirements of the GCSE English Literature exam for Wales. The historical context and themes such as prejudice, loneliness and the American Dream are all an integral part of the rehearsal and performance process.
