Elektra with Jennifer Saint
Griffin Books’ busy events programme continues on Wednesday 25 May with author Jennifer Saint visiting Penarth to discuss her new novel Elektra. Jennifer’s bestselling debut novel, Ariadne, was a mesmerising retelling of the classic tale of Theseus and the Minotaur, which gave a voice to the forgotten women of one of the most famous Greek myths.
Elektra is another spellbinding reimagining of Greek myth from a female perspective, this time focused on the origins of the Trojan War and the dreadful curse blighting the House of Atreus. It is the story of three women – Clytemnestra, Cassandra and Elektra – their fates inextricably tied to this curse, and the fickle nature of men and gods.
Jennifer Saint grew up reading Greek mythology and was always drawn to the untold stories hidden within the myths. After thirteen years as a high school English teacher, she wrote Ariadne which tells the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur from the perspective of Ariadne – the woman who made it happen. She is now a full-time author, living in Yorkshire, England, with her husband and two children.
This is the perfect event for fans of Madeline Miller, Pat Barker and Natalie Haynes.
The event will take place on Wednesday 25 May (7.30 pm) at All Saints Church, Penarth. Tickets cost £7.50 including a drink or £17.50 including a SIGNED hardback copy of Elektra (RRP: £14.99) and a drink.
