Barons Court Is Back!

A beautiful historic building in Penarth has officially reopened, with two local entrepreneurs behind the transformation.

Jayne Haywood and Jemma Evans have invested the past 10 months of their lives into creating a stunning, family-friendly environment for the people of Penarth and wider to enjoy.

The building, which was originally built for King Henry III, has been restored to it’s former glory with a modern twist. As you walk through the entrance, exposed stone and high ceilings create a cosy, warm environment whilst the unique decor brings the building to life. From the moment you walk in, you can see the life that has been breathed into the Barons Court once again, through their passion, vision and a lot of hard work.

When talking about the interior, Jayne said: “We want her to be who she is. You can see the stones, it’s lovely.”

“She’s so fab, she is. You can feel it. I’m really passionate about it”

“15 – 16 years ago it was very popular to pull the fire places out. Now people are putting them back in and restoring them. We have a tendency to pull out history and want it back 10 years later.”

The community is truly at the heart of all of those at Barons court, with Jayne adding: “I know we’re a restaurant bar, but we do really want to fit into the community so that they’ve got somewhere to go and haven’t got to travel for miles.”

“We want it to be community-based and I think that’s what it’s all about.”

The community is already very excited, as are we, for the opening of this newly renovated addition to Penarth.

“When I go out, I like good services, I like people to be attentive. I don’t like having to wait for the bill. What I don’t want to do is having to spend 15 minutes trying to attract someones attention. The whole point of that is, the service that we provide won’t be. They will be getting good food, good service and a massive range for the bar.”

Talks of seasonal celebrations are already underway, with lavish plans for both Halloween and Christmas. From carving pumpkins to giant nutcrackers, Jayne and her team are going all out to give the community somewhere special, for all occasions.

When speaking about what can be expected for seasonal events at Barons Court, Jayne explained: “You’ve got little turrets outside, and at Christmas we’re going to put two giant nut-cracker kings out there and a big giant wreath on the front.”

“We are very much into bringing the community here and having them have somewhere to sit and enjoy all the seasonal things.”

“We are going to be sorting out the Christmas menu in the next few days for that as well.”

Barons Court have also highlighted that they use locally-sourced products wherever possible throughout their menu. Barrie Cook, who is part of the team, added: “It’s about supporting everyone around us. Keep us all going.”
