At the Heart of Property

David Baker & Company have always strived to deliver the best customer experience, whether you are a buyer, seller, landlord or tenant. We deeply understand how important your home is and put you at the centre of everything we do. As we race towards the end of another very busy year in the Penarth property market we can safely say that some things never change.

The area has once again performed extremely well with very high demand far outstripping supply. From June 2020 to March 2021 prices largely remained stable but the drop in supply and continuing strong demand since the spring has seen values increase from anywhere between 10% and 20% in six months. The much heralded Welsh Land Tax holiday has come and gone but in reality that had little impact on the market with continuing personal requirements since the two Covid lockdown certainly being the main influences. This town, as ever, is a highly desirable place to live and the only way we can see the market tailing off will be if rising inflation forces the Bank of England into raising interest rates.

Another feature of the Penarth property market over the past eighteen months has been the amount of building work going on. We are blessed with a wide array of skilled builders in Penarth but should you require any advice or guidance before starting a project, please give us a shout and we would be happy to help!

Our skilled team gained a very valuable member this year, with Debra Tuhey joining us after 39 years in another business. A very experienced estate agent (do we have the two most experienced agents in the town?) and office manager, Debbie wanted to get back to looking after buyers and sellers and has relished the new, more personal role. She is also expert at jeeping the office snack box fully stocked so the rest of us are having to exercise a lot more self-control!

Debbie says, “I absolutely love working in a local family-run business where customer care is the number one priority. The team is very approachable and friendly, and it has been really easy to settle in.”

We have been honoured to win two estate agency awards this year, with a British Property Awards prize being added to our second Property Academy award in three years, putting us in what the Property Academy deem to be the top 3% of agency branches in the country. We don’t do the job to win awards, and have in fact never entered one, but the recognition is a well deserved pat on the back for the team who have poured their heart and soul into their work over the last eighteen months.

I’m so proud to call them our team, and firmly believe they’re the best in the business!
