Back in 1994 a group of Penarth parents, struggling with childcare, established a unique venture called Bear Pak. Twenty five years later the nonprofit organization, run by volunteers continues to go from strength to strength adapting and offering a multitude of services to meet the challenging childcare needs of parents, including but not limited to pickups, club/home drop offs and care during school holidays.
In a recent inspection report Bear Pak was commended on it’s high standards and caring environment. It is credited with a 5 for food hygiene and won awards for providing children with a healthy snack and high quality child care as recognised by the Vale of Glamorgan quality standards.
Recent exciting developments include the opening of its wrap around service and in April this year they will be one of the few places in Penarth opening registration for the government’s 30 hours a week funded childcare scheme. Bear Pak covers the whole Penarth area which provides an opportunity for students to mix and make friends with children from all schools.
