Art History Lectures – Picasso

“Women are machines for suffering,” Picasso said to his mistress Françoise Gilot in 1943. Pablo Picasso drew obsessively on women for artistic inspiration. Of the seven most significant in his life, two women went mad, and two killed themselves. We will look at how he portrayed his wives, loves and muses, contrasting images of tenderness with more harrowing depictions of the female form dissected and rearranged on the canvas.

Ticket price includes a glass of wine following the lecture.
