The long days, the warm evenings and a chance to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle with friends and family.

We are so lucky to have beautiful parks in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and Roath Lake has got to be one of my favourites. With its 30 acres lake, wild garden, botanic garden, adventure playground and tropical conservatory, it certainly provides a wide range of horticultural interest, nature conservation and activities to delight everyone. My daughter and I particularly enjoyed doing the Wildlife Explorer Trail, which was educational and a fun way to learn more about plants and wildlife.

As we all know, a good quality environment can have a big impact on our health and wellbeing, so get out there and make the most of it while the weather holds. Open all year round!

On the occasional rainy days- we are in Wales, after all- why not visit Techniquest? Cardiff Bay’s all-weather and all-age interactive science discovery centre. Make a firework, dock a spacecraft, experience a real-life earthquake, and find out about life and the world around us! Open throughout the year.

On my last trip to Cowbridge, I got the chance to meet up with a team of lovely volunteers who join forces every Thursday morning to maintain and improve the Old Hall Gardens, which date back to 1254. I have to say, that the scent of the roses and honey suckle is particularly divine at this time of year. I recommend a visit! Pride Cymru, Wales’ biggest celebration of equality and diversity will be taking place at Cardiff City Hall lawns over the bank holiday on 27 and 28 August. Loads of family fun and extravagant entertainment from the likes of Mel C, Janelle Monae, Bimini Bon Boulash and Jonathan Van Ness to celebrate the importance of the LGBTQ+ community.

Come and enjoy over 2 hours of Shakespeare’s timeless comic masterpiece, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at the Kymin Gardens and for one night only on Friday 2 September. Bring a picnic and dress warm!

Why not bring the family for a fun afternoon to Dinas Powys Village Show at the Parish and Lee Hall Gardens on Saturday 3 September at 1:30pm.

Take a walk around Wales, from Celtic times to the present day, in just a few hours by visiting St Fagans National Museum of History, Wales’ most popular open-air museum. On 17 September and 15 October, you also get a chance to support local food and producers by visiting the Farmers Food Market.

And to finish, for all you students out there who fancy a chilling night to remember, Halloween Purge is back in Cardiff on 31 October. Apparently, they accept full responsibility for you having the best night of your life!
